ウォット ニュー リスボン - ホステルの朝食、ハムや卵類はないがパンとバター、ジャム、チョコレートコーンフレークと牛乳程度、飲み物はコーヒーにココア、ジュース類だ。この甘いケーキは小腹が空いた時に役立つ。ジュースを水筒に入れるのは禁止と書いてあった。
Breakfast wat-new Lisbon hostel is bread and butter, jam, chocolate
cornflakes and milk, but no ham or eggs. Drinks are coffee, cocoa and juice.
This sweet cake is useful when you feel hungry. It was written that juice
is not allowed in a water bottle.
今日はRossoロッソ駅に行って電車に乗りNational place Penaに行く計画を立てた。最短を歩く。
Today I planned to go to Rosso station and take the train to National Place
Pena. I decided to walk the shortest route.
平面の地図上で最短といっても実際には極端なアップダウンの続く道がある。始めて来た者にとっては何が近いか分らない。
Even if it is the shortest route on a flat map, in reality it has many
extreme ups and downs. For those who are on their first trip, it is hard
to know what is close.
赤いビルの左の細い道から階段を降り続けてやってきた。駅はどこだぁ？実はこの右手だったのだがこの時点では判らない、その駅から見たこの場所の写真が下記の写真。だが赤いビルも写ってないがこの階段とテント屋根だけははっきりと解る。
I walked down the narrow street to the left of the red building and
down the stairs. Where is the station? It was on the right hand side, but
I couldn't tell at this point.The photo below is of this place taken from
the station, But the red building is not include in the picture, the stairs
and the tent roof are clearly visible..
宿からは写真の右の赤い店の屋根の上の階段を下りてきた、実は最初は判らなくて左に行って100m程先の次の通りまで行って、スマホの地図と合わなくて警察官に尋ねてここまで戻って来た。
From the inn, I went down the stairs on the roof of the red shop on the right of the photo. Actually, I didn't know the way at first so I went left and walked about 100m to the next street, but it didn't match up with the map on my smartphone so I asked a police officer and came back here.
目的地Sintraに行く電車は出発した直後だったので次の電車にたっぷり時間があるので長い行列に並んで私の持っている黄色いカードが使えるか確認した。使える確信はあったのだが、知らない土地で通じない英語で苦労するのも楽しいと思って尋ねたら簡単だった。
The train to my destination, Sintra, had just departed, so I had plenty
of time before the next train and so I waited in the long line to check
if my yellow card could be used. I was sure I could use it, but I thought
it might be fun to struggle with incomprehensible English in an unfamiliar
place, so I asked, but it was very easy.
Sintraシントラに行く列車は毎時間ある。ポルトからリスボンに列車で来たら何度か乗り換えが必要で迷ってそうな気がする。
There are trains to Sintra every hour. If I had take the train from Porto
to Lisbon, I would probably get lost because I would have to change trains
several times.
出発時間の半時間前には列車は到着した、私が乗った時はガラガラだったが出発までに半分以上は席が埋まった。
The train was empty when I boarded, but by the time departure more than
half the seats were filled, The train arrived half an hour before departure
time..
真ん中のRossoロッソ駅で乗り、左端のSintraシントラで降りる。車両は12両あり長い列車だ。
Get on at Rosso station in the middle and get off at Sintra station on the left. It's a long train with 12 cars.
列車は出発して程なく停車、このCAMPOLIDEとあるのが駅名らしい。
The train stopped shortly after departing, and CAMPOLIDE seems to be the

列車には観光客だけでなく地元の人も1〜2割ほど乗っていた。どの駅も簡単な駅名表示だけ、日本のように懇切丁寧な説明はどこにもない。

40分でSintraシントラに着いた、列車の窓から目的地の写真を撮る、あの上のハズだ。

gate and the gate opened. Several Italian guys with bicycles were shouting
loudly as they tried to get through the crowded area.
駅で列車を降りた人は延々とこの道を歩いてる、あの頂上が目的地のようだ。
People who get off the train at the station walk along this road for ages,
with the top seeming to be their destination.
ここも完全に観光地化されている。

歩行者なら誰でも入っていいようなので入ってみる。ポルトガル語をスマホ翻訳したら「シントラ市議会の遺産」。

最短の道を探して民家の間の階段を上がる、どこまで続くかこの階段。階段は最後は更に急になる。

I wondered how far these stairs would go. The stairs got steeper every
stair.
前を歩く老婆に話しかけた。全員60代、サンフランシスコ近くから来ていて一人は日本の座間にも居たと、米軍関係者なのだろう。2時間程も話しながら歩いた。
I spoke to an old woman walking in front of me. They were all in their 60s, and had come from near San Francisco. One of them had also been to Zama in Japan, and was probably connected to the US military. We walked and talked for about two hours.

After getting off the train at Rosso station, I searched for the shortest
route to my accommodation.
宿の近く、バス停近くの家にあったピンクっぽい赤、思わずBiormアプリを開いてこれを投稿した。ブーゲンビリアではないかと返事があった。
I saw a pinkish red flower near the bus stop near my hostel, and I opened
the Biorm app and posted a this picture of it. The reply I got was that it
was probably a bougainvillea.
シャワーを終えてベッドで休んだら午後7時前、お腹が減ったので宿の近くに食事に出た。
After taking a shower and resting in bed, it was just before 7pm and I
was hungry so I went out to eat near the inn.
店は家族連れも来ている、旦那は白人で嫁がアフリカ系、話している言語は判らなかった。
There was a family at the restaurant, the husband was white and the wife
was African, but I couldn't understand what language they were speaking.
スマホ地図左の赤い風船は宿、現在地はその右の小さな青い点、そのすぐ上の緑の公園にバスを降りたバス停がある。
The red balloon on the left of the smartphone map is the inn, and my current
location is the small blue dot to the right of it. Just above that is the
green park where the find the bus stop where I got off the bus.
ポルトガルでは小さなレストランでも店の人はハンディタブレットをぶら下げていて注文は目の前で入力し、注文が完了する。2024年現在の日本では見た事がない。
In Portugal, even in small restaurants, the staff carry handheld tablets
and input the order right in front of you, completing the order. I have
never seen this in Japan as of 2024.
メニューには野菜など材料の名称は書いてあったのでサラダと思ったら調理方法が全然違うマイッタ。それでも美味しく頂いた。
The menu listed the names of the vegetables and other ingredients, so I thought it would be a salad, but the cooking method was completely different. Still, it was delicious.

ホステルの中の通路でヨガをしてるのか瞑想にふけってるのか、ヘソ出しルックでヘッドホンをつけてるのは音楽を聴いてるのか音を遮断してるのか何れにせよ今風のスタイル。
She was either doing yoga or meditating in the hallway of the hostel. She
had her belly button exposed and was wearing headphones. Maybe she was
listening to music or blocking out the sound. Either way, it was a very
modern look.
2024/6/11(火Thu) リスボンから日本に帰る。 Back to Japan from Lisboa .
ホステルで朝食を済ませてメトロでリスボンLIS空港までやってきた。これが夕方の便、リスボン発イスタンブール行きTK1760エアバス321。今朝は貧弱な朝食だったのでお腹が減った。機内食が楽しみ。
After breakfast at the hostel, I took the metro to Lisbon LIS Airport.
This is the evening flight, TK1760 Airbus 321 from Lisbon to Istanbul.
I am hungry because I had a poor breakfast this morning. I am looking forward
to the in-flight meal.
予定通り離陸し、高度が1万ｍに達したと思ったら急降下してイスタンブール行きなのにマドリードにアプローチしてるぞ！！着陸寸前。
The plane took off as scheduled, and in a half hour
just as I thought it had reached an altitude of 10,000m, but started to
dive and was approaching Madrid, even though it was bound for Istanbul!!
Now just before landing
着陸し、窓から見てたらタラップを機体後ろに引いていった、私は最前列の席だったので後ろの騒ぎは気づかなかったが、最後尾のドアを開けたようだ。
After the plane landed, I watched from the window as they pulled the ramp
to the rear of the plane. my seat is in the front row so I didn't notice
the commotion behind me, but it seemed like they opened the rear door.

スマホの地図で現在地を確認してもマドリードになっている。地図中央部の灰色部分が空港。最近はセキュリティを気にして空港内詳細は無く灰色。
When I check my current location on the map on my smartphone, it says Madrid. The gray area in the center of the map is the airport. Recently, they've been concerned about security, so the details of the airport are hidden and gray.
機体後部で客が喧嘩、10台近くの軍警察車両が来て喧嘩した男達は別々の車で連れ去られ、更に連れ合いの女はパニックになって3人の荷物を沢山のコンテナから探し出して下ろすから時間かかる、私はイスタンブールでの乗継ぎ時間を気にするがなんとも出来ん私の乗り継ぎ時間は2時間以上あるはずなのだが・・・。
Passengers were fighting at the rear of the plane, about 10 military police
vehicles arrived, and the men who were fighting were taken away in separate
other cars. Furthermore, the woman who was with them panicked and had to
search for the luggage of the three people in many containers on the plane
and get it off, which took much time. I was worried about the layover time
in Istanbul, but there was nothing I could do anything about it, even though
my layover time was supposed to be more than two hours...
乗継ぎに1時間しか無いセネガルに帰るデカい男がわめいて、嫁に電話し、息子に電話し、少し落ち着いた。彼はチェックインの時に大きなスーツケースを10個近く持ち込んでいたのを思い出し大変だねと言ったら仲間意識が出来たのか写真を撮っていいかと尋ねたら手を振ってくれた。
A big guy who was going back to Senegal with only an hour to transfer was
yelling, so he called his wife and son, and calmed down a little. I remembered
that he had brought about 10 big suitcases when he checked in, and when
I told him how hard it must have been, he seemed to become friends, because
he waved when I asked if I could take a photo.
マドリードを離陸するのに空港内を離陸滑走路に向かって15分以上走行しただろうか、スクリーンに表示する情報を見ていたら山の中の空港らしく場所により590m〜610mと標高差が20ｍ以上あった。ようやく離陸し、やっと出てきた機内食にホッとする、搭乗客は全員同じ思いだろう。
To take off from Madrid, we drove through the airport for more than 15
minutes toward the runway. As it was an airport in the mountains, screen
information said altitude difference was more than 20 meters, ranging from
590m to 610m in some places. When finally took off, I was relieved when
the in-flight meal finally came. I'm sure all the passengers felt the same
way.
2024/6/12(水Wed） 日本行きに乗り換えなくちゃ。 I should change flight to Japan.
最初の予定ではイスタンブール着は昨日の23時半なのだが・・・・。
The original schedule was to arrive in Istanbul at 11:30pm yesterday, but...
飛行機から降りたのは午前1時過ぎ、大阪行きの離陸予定は午前2時、広い空港内を、今日の搭乗口はF16遠い、半時間以上も必死に歩いた。乗り継ぎの大阪行きに乗ったのは離陸予定時間の5分前。最終搭乗案内締め切り後だ待っていてくれてありがとう。私が乗ったら後ろで飛行機のドアを閉める音がした。
I got off the plane after 1am, and my flight to Osaka was scheduled
to take off at 2am. Today's boarding gate was F16, so I walked desperately
for about half an hour through the large airport. I got on my connecting
flight five minutes before the scheduled takeoff. It was after the final
boarding announcement, so thank you for waiting. When I got on, I heard
the plane door closing behind me.
大阪行きTK86便は離陸予定時間を10分遅れでイスタンブール空港を離陸。この後は程なく夕食をいただいたハラハラした後はお腹が空く、機内食の写真も撮り忘れて食べて寝た。
TK86 took off from Istanbul Airport 10 minutes later than scheduled. After that, I had dinner shortly after. I was hungry after the suspense. I forgot to take a photo of the in-flight meal and went to sleep.
イスタンブールから関西空港に向かう帰りは10時間程、行き便は13時間程だが。2度目の食事は北京を過ぎて韓国上空になってから出てきました。
The return flight from Istanbul to Kansai Airport took about 10 hours,

we passed Beijing and were over Korea.
関西空港に南側から近づいて北から南向け滑走路にアプローチするようだ。

aircraft had three forward cameras, one behind the nosewheel, one directly

18時36分に関西空港に着陸した。

ハラハラした旅だったが何とかなった。次の旅はゆっくりしたい。入国時のディジタル申請VisitJapanも慣れてきた。
It was a stressful trip but I managed well, I expect little slow and
easy travel life next time.
イーモンには「どこまで行きましたか」と別れてから連絡したら次の日に「 I’m

ok? 」と返事があった。文中のworkingはwalkingの間違いと思われる。英国人が英単語を間違える笑えるが人間だ。
Vila Chaは地図の左上端、別れた宿はPortoの最後のoの辺り。英国人は良く歩く。 I went to see a doctor because I often get sick days after returning from a trip and cannot use my insurance.
To use the overseas travel insurance that comes with my card, I need to see a doctor within 48 hours of returning home, so I went.
My roommate Eamon was taking vitamin D tablets, and when I talked to the doctor, he tested me for osteoporosis in just a few minutes.
doctor said that my osteoporosis was 96% of the average for people in their
20s and 126% of the average for people my age, so I probably don't need
medication.
I contacted Eamon and asked him how far he had gone after he leave, next
day he replied, "I'm in a small seaside place called Vila Cha 26 Km
up the coast from Porto Slowly working my way up to Spain and Santiago!
Did you catch your flight ok?" I think the word "working"
in the sentence was a mistake for "walking." It's funny when
British people make mistakes with English words, but they're human.
Vila Cha is at the top left of the map, and the accommodation we stayed at is around the last "o" in Porto. British people walk a lot.

ポルトの宿で同室人だったEamonは私が旅から帰り何日もしてからFacebookにて「Just
finished the Portuguese Camino Lisboa to Santiago de Compostela - 634 Km」と投稿してきた。イギリスから来て旅を始めたのはリスボンらしいが、リスボンから数百キロ歩いてポルトの町で私と出会い、75歳で両手に杖を突いてでもスペインのサンチャゴコンポステーラまで634kmを徒歩破した根性は見上げたものだ。この写真を使っていいかと尋ねたら快諾してくれた。リュックと前に付けている小さなバッグが彼の荷物の全て10kg程、ポルトで私と別れた時と同じだ。
Eamon, my roommate at the hotel in Porto, posted on Facebook several days
after I returned from the trip, "Just finished the Portuguese Camino
Lisboa to Santiago de Compostela - 634 Km." He had come from England

小生の反省点はもう少し下調べして現地の交通系ICカードを現地に到着して直ぐに購入すれば市内交通機関は30％以上安くできる。
今回もBrabraCarに予約を入れようとしたがクレジットカードが受け付けなかった、これについては時間をかけてカード会社に改善を求めるべく努力するつもり、経過はここに記載する。 リスボンの黄色いICカードはバスはタッチして1時間有効。鉄道は距離による、メトロは改札から出るまで有効とマルタちゃんは言っていたがメトロと鉄道は別の改札だが両方とも入口と出口にタッチ改札機がある。何れにせよ乗る度に現金で支払うのとは3割りくらい安い。私は10Eチャージしてバス2回、鉄道でシントラまで往復、メトロで空港まで行って1.7E残っている。
ポルトガルは各街々で安いICカードがあると思われる、ポルトではバスだけなのに現金で払ったから計

今回は観光客の多い都市を選んだから仕方ないが何処の街もオーバーツーリズムだ。夜中まで路上にテーブル出して営業している店の周りは騒がしいハズだが今回の旅では大声で怒鳴っている場面には出会わなかった。それでも朝になると街はゴミだらけ、日曜日の早朝だったが市の清掃車と作業員がプラスチック容器も何もかも水圧で吹き飛ばして掃除していた。
リスボンとポルトの若い人しか話してないがポルトガルの人は英語が話せる、難しいことを言わなければ日本人の英語で済ませられる。
バスの運転手や切符売り場、町の人も。年寄りは私も遠慮して話しかけなかった。次回はNational
Place Penaベーナ城に行ってみたい。

This time, I asked for a lower bed at the hostel in Porto and Lisbon. It is better to write "Request Lower Bed" when making a reservation and contact them.
As is the fate of a historic city, accommodation is expensive in all towns in the old town. The price and the choice of accommodation close to the city center were appropriate, but the places I visited this time were mainly towns with slopes.
Both Porto and Lisbon are hostels, and the facilities and staff training are well done, so I can recommend them, and if I go again, I would like to stay in the same place.
Learning from my experience in Gibraltar in April, I made my reservation early and was able to pay less than half the price I would have paid if I had booked at the last minute.
European respects the history each region, we can enjoy if we study
history before visit,
Japan has a long history, but Europe values local history blends with the
new changes of the world. there historical item is in harmony with
the modern society, Japan should also learn from them.
If I had done a bit more research and bought a local transportation IC card as soon as I arrived, I could have saved more than 30% on city transportation.
I tried to make a reservation with BrabraCar again this time, but they didn't accept my credit card. I'm going to take my time and try to ask the card company to improve this, and I'll write about the progress here.
The yellow IC card in Lisbon is valid for 1 hour when you touch it on the bus. Marta said that it depends on the distance for the train and that it's valid until you leave the ticket gate for the metro, but the metro and the train have different ticket gates, but both have touch gates at the entrance and exit. In any case, it's about 30% cheaper than paying with cash every time you ride. I charged 10E, took the bus twice, took the train to Sintra and back, and took the metro to the airport, and had 1.7E left. Only young people know about Lisbon and Porto, but Portuguese people can speak English, and if you don't ask something difficult you can get by in Japanese English.
I was shy about not talking to bus drivers, ticket booths, townspeople,
or elderly people. I want to visit National Place Pena next time.
All the beer I had in Lisbon and Porto, except on the plane, was delicious.
I felt like it tasted different from the beer in Japan.
